Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 8, 2026
Overview
ForkFeed ("ForkFeed", "we", "us", or "our") is a recipe app that lets you save, organize, import, and cook recipes. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or using ForkFeed, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Information We Collect
- Account information: When you sign up with email or Google, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your basic Google profile (name, email, and profile picture). You may also add a display name.
- Content you create: The recipes, ingredients, steps, meal plans, reminders, grocery lists, notes, and any photos you add or upload are stored in your account.
- Import content: When you import a recipe from a link, pasted text, or a photo/screenshot, we process that source content to extract a recipe (see "Recipe Import & AI Processing" below).
- Device & usage data: We collect limited technical information needed to operate the app, such as basic error and diagnostic data. Notification scheduling for reminders is handled on your device.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the app — creating your account, storing your recipes and meal plans, and syncing them across your devices.
- To process recipe imports and turn source content into structured recipes.
- To send the reminders and notifications you set up.
- To operate subscriptions and process payments, if you purchase a premium plan.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
Recipe Import & AI Processing
When you import a recipe, the content you provide — a web page or video link, pasted text, or an image — is sent to third-party services to extract the recipe:
- Google Gemini (AI): The source text or image is sent to Google's generative AI to identify the title, ingredients, and steps. We do not send your account identity with this content beyond what is needed to perform the import.
- YouTube Data API: For YouTube links, we fetch the public video's title and description to read the recipe written there. We do not access your YouTube account.
- Recipe websites: For web links, our server fetches the public page you provided to read its recipe data.
Only content you choose to import is processed this way. Imported recipes are saved to your account like any other recipe.
How Your Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run ForkFeed, under their terms:
- Supabase — our backend for authentication, database, file storage, and server functions. Your account and content are stored here.
- Google — for Google Sign-In, and the Gemini and YouTube Data APIs used for imports.
- App stores / payment processors — Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat, if and when you purchase a subscription, to process and validate payments.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
Data Retention
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete a recipe or other content, it is removed from your account. When you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.
Your Rights & Choices
- You can view and edit your recipes, profile, and preferences at any time in the app.
- You can delete individual recipes and content, or request deletion of your entire account and associated data by contacting us at the email below.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. We will honor valid requests as required by applicable law.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls that scope your content to your account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
ForkFeed is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International Users
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country, including by our service providers. By using ForkFeed, you consent to such processing in accordance with this Policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of ForkFeed after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
